The tree surgeon who did an excellent job has finished his work of much needed pruning of trees and also the felling of 2 diseased trees . The large chestnut was felled because of disease which could have made it dangerous but a lot of its wood has been put to good purpose .The school took some to use as stepping stones and the large trunk is being left for children to climb and play on .We are also planning to place some small cut logs for children to use as seats in this area as well. There is a large pile of mulch from the clippings which we will use to put round our newly planted saplings.
There are going to be 14 new trees planted in the next few months ,hornbeams, silver birch and a couple of cherry trees to improve the biodiversity of the field . The Jubilee Playing Field volunteers group has been set up now, it has approx 10 members and Sarah Woods is the leader . In November there will be some work dates to clear the hedges and to plant the tree saplings ,dates will be put on facebook and anyone who would like to come and help out for a few hours in the morning would be most welcome . The Jubilee playing field fund raising committee will also be organising the buying of new equipment for the field to replace the up and over climber( which had to be removed as the posts were rotten and dangerous )and also repairs to some of the equipment . Keep your eyes open for JPF work days in the next month which will be posted on the village facebook page. Please note the following documents with reference to the proposed Traffic Regulation Order, consultation period, 27th October - 28th November.
